The Gopis - whose mind were set only on Lord Krishna, who were talking only about Him, who were acting among themselves as if they were their Lord Himself and thus became the Lord themselves – were singing the praise of their Lord and forgot the entire world around them (as their entire universe became only Lord Krishna Himself) came back to Yamuna Theeram again totally engulfed in their Lord’s Bhavana and joined together to sing the praise of the Lord in anticipation of His arrival soon. The Gopis who were born for the Lord’s Service only nothing new in their becoming than manaska: or tadalaapaa: - in fact they show us a way how to tread in the unconquered path of Devotion to His Lotus feet by their words and deeds. In Narada Bhakthi Sutra, Sage Narada himself says “Yataa Vrajee Gopikaa:” so to say no one can be compared or equaled to the level of devotion that is humanely impossible as that of Gopis. By this way, Gopis are teaching us Prema Bhakthi – how to tread upon and be successful in our daily life.

The Gopis said:
This Vruj Bhoom the land of ours, Oh Krishna!
Has always been rich, as you know
For Lakshmi is here, Because of your birth, (after your birth here this land of ours became a Vasasthala of Goddess Mahalakshmi or to say became the residence of

the Devi Herself who simply followed your footsteps and settled down here with us)
When all the people are happy, We the Gopis who love you,
Search for you in all places, So be pleased to come before us, Oh! darling
Ps: Where the Lord dwells there one can see presence of Goddess Mahalakshmi – though true devotees of Lord were poor outwardly they were rich in their mental poise and fragrance. The entire Gopika Geetham is in Indira Vruttam / meter and hence Indira the Goddess of Wealth following the foot steps of the Lord came down to Vraja Bhoom and thus it became radiant with wealthy lusture at every corner of the holy land. It is only by the presence of Thee Oh Lord Krishna this holy land has attained name and fame. VRAJA means one who dwells in the holy thought of the Lord THEY JANAMANA VRAJA it became holier by your very birth ADHIKAM JAYATHI has become more known by your birth and the deeds to follow hereafter. SHASWATH ATHRA HEE INDIRA SHRAYATA Goddess Mahalakshmi following thy footsteps decided to reside here permanently knowing the greatness of devotion that Vraja Niwasees have on thee. We the Gopis were always on the look out of thee on all corners THAVAKA: meaning we below to YOU only hence the search of the beloved who knowingly disappeared to see their plight & depth of their devotion. THWAAM VICHINVATHE we always think of you only to such people you have discarded us and disappeared probably you have become cruel not imbibing the holy and soft nature of Yashda your mother.

Oh
as if the luster inside the lotus flower, in a clear pond,
in the season of spring, you (our beloved lover) kill us- the gopis - who are your lowly maids, (unpaid servants) oh king of love please remember this Oh benefactor of all! Don't you think, it is a murder.
PS: Lord Kishna’s lotus like eyes (as if they were full blown lotus in a Spring season in a pond bestowed with brim of water) are darling to our heart and thus kill us –
thy beloved ones which is a cool blooded murder! Full bloomed Lotus like eyes of the Lord are supposed to give pleasure to the Gopis instead it is piercing them and

is inflicting pain in them owing to your disappearance amidst them. Oh Giver of Boons it is not fair. This stanza refers to a Gopi of Thamasic nature who is cursing the Lord for His deed and is openly criticizing him for the same. You are the Benefactor of all – who is capable of giving anything to your devotees at a whisker – if that is true why don’t you give us your darshan and do not kill us by your disappearance.

of the serpent King Kalinga, from the storm, the thunder & the rain,
from the Asura who came as a bull, from Vyoma (the son of Maya)
of the serpent King Kalinga, from the storm, the thunder & the rain,
from the Asura who came as a bull, from Vyoma (the son of Maya)
PS: How can we forget that you were the Protector indeed from many great fears & dangers (the real fear & danger is your separation which please grant us which you know very much).. On many occasions you were kind enough to protect us from various evils and incidents – once from poisoned water of Kalinga Madu by removing Kalinga and family from there; on another occasions from the serpent who appeared with his mouth open – thinking that it was a cave entire Gopas and the herd went in and swooned and only by thy grace they got back to life; yet another occasion from the wrath of Indra who ordered for severe downpour – unprecedented and unknown to Vraja Bhoomi and you saved entire Gokulam by lifting Govardhan Giri itself for seven days with you little finger; again from forest fire on one occasion and on many occasions from the wrath of asuras who were constantly attacking you – Oh Bull King of this land how can we forget thee who was bent upon giving protection at all these hard times of ours. (Meaning this is the hardest time of our life that your disappearance cannot be tolerated upon please come back to us soon).

(you are our friend);PS: The world thinks that you are son of Nandan & Yashodha but you are the all pervading – soul of all living beings – on the request of Lord Bramma you appeared amongst us by taking birth in our Kula and thus gave us fame & name which we can never dream of and made Sathvatha Kula a blessed one by your very birth and had been the best friend of ours at every stage of life. Being the Antaryamin of entire universe you know better how we feel thy absence please come soon and give us the the boon of thy grance & grandeur o your presence.

To those who are afraid of this life, Oh Krishna! to those who seek protection of thy lotus feet, You grant them protection, and you give them all that they ask (desire) request you to place your hand - which is like lotus on our head - Oh Darling!
PS: All those who are really afraid of this mortal life in this world those who take shelter in they lotus feet you are the Giver of all boons that are sought for from you; this is an universal truth; if that is so, why don’t you grant us one boon – by placing your lotus like hand on our head (which is boiling with fumes of love by thy separation). Do you know how we feel your absence whenever you go out for grazing of the cattle and the herd you lead upon? Till such time you return back in the evening until our eyes are fed with your grace we were only machine like doing work without any involvement and we get back our lives only on seeing you. Oh Krishna, You destroy the sorrows of those live in Vruja, you are a great hero, with your captivating smile, destroys the pride of your own people,; Please oblige us, your slaves, Oh friend! and show us your lotus like face,.PS: Oh Lord! This bhoomi has been blessed by your very birth which has totally destroyed the sorrows of the people here by your captivating smile and incomparable deed of yours; Oh Friend! We thy servants are thy slaves who constantly beg you to give us your Darshan ; a glimpse of thy Lotus like face once again please! Entire world is praising you as one who is bent upon removing pain and hardships of this land if that is so we thy kinkarees (servants & vraja vassees) have full right to claim the boon of thy presence. Why don’t you consider our sincere prayers and grant us our cherished boon of thy presence soon?

PS: Those who pay their obeisance to thy lotus feet you make it a vow to cleanse them off their sins. Oh Lord, storehouse of Grace and Grandeur, accompanier of cow herds and a Dancer on the hood of Snake, such a graceful lotus like feet are fit to be on the bosoms of our beautiful breasts as they will get the grace of thy feet which had been wandering all day along because of which we are now put to untold suffering and heated us up. Cows which follow your footsteps to Vrinda Van for grazing often get the chance to lick lotus like feet of your and also get sparsha suka by dashing you often from the back and you also stand in such a way as if leaning on them removes their itches (cows often get their itches removed by constantly dashing their bodies on stones meant for this purpose (chori kambam kept in villages) and these cows were most blessed ones as they found YOU as their remover of their itches and YOU were also very happy to oblige hem. If cows can get their purpose served by simply following your footsteps why not we thy servants get the chance to keep your feet on our chest and embrace them to give you some relief and also get some relief that our souls were longing for.

PS:- Sweet words of the Lord on hearing which even the wisest person in the world will go into estacy has been the source of attraction to us. Oh the bravest one please shower us the grant of the adharamrutham very soon and bless us. Your sweet ways of talking has been the attraction of the world on hearing which even wisest has been immensely pleased if that is so we the Gopis who have no knowledge and who are most illiterate can as well cherish like the wisest Oh Lord please grant us the sweet lips to us. DHARATHI ITI DHARA – that which bears us is known as Bhoomi or Dhara – NO DHARATHI IT ADHARA – that which does not carry us is known as Adhara i.e. by the Grace of the Lord Gopis are not meant to be born again so Adhara. Dharayaa: amirutham is the nectar given by the holy land – A DHARAMRUTHAM is commonly known as the kiss that Lord gives to the chosen ones – but it is actually his act of giving them boon not to be born in this world and reach GOLOKHA for nitya kainkarya. That is actually ADHARAMURTHAM.

Turn our thoughts in to ecstasy, And turns our mind wildly, Oh Deceiver!
PS:- Oh Lord your very look is the nectar of our lives and all your deeds full of foreplay and play and your gestures of secret nature give us the ecstasies of our lives and help us to focus inwardly. The apanga veekshanam of the Lord is the granter of boons of the beloved ones for which they are indebted for their entire lives.

And this makes our mind, Restless and worried.
PS:- The moment you leave for the day for grazing the cowherd is the moment our heart stops its function and regains its life back only on seeing you back in the evening after your duty. All day through you were wandering here and there often on thorns and stones and thy delicate – mrudu pallava like feet – is put to untold hardship – the very thought of which puts us in pain.

To test poor people like us, Oh Krishna, You come with cloud like hair, While coming from the forest, And also face coated with dust, On seeing you like that, Our minds become darkly passionate, But you don't bother about us.PS:- Everything that is associated with the Lord is beauty; even the dust of the cows that sits on the face of the Lord adds beauty to Him especially when he returns in the evening amidst cow herds. This drushya adds fuel to fire and increases the pain of thy separation.

Which is worshipped by Lord Brahma, ,Which is the ornament to the world,
Which is to be worshipped at times of peril, And which grants pleasure even when it is served, On our breasts dearly and tenderly.
PS:- The pada sparsha of the Lord is the panacea for all the sufferings of the Gopis and grant them all their wants ; the very holy feet is being worshiped by Brahma and the same is the Jewel of the Universe and worshiped at times of need by devotees and grants the pleasure of its association with our bossoms; i.e. the right place to keep them in safe custody is ours. If the feet of the lord is allowed to wander on its own it will go even to Satyaloka or other such places and should be safeguarded as it is the benefactor of all boons sought for by keeping them safely tight to our chest.

Makes us feel that every second, Like a never ending age,
And seeing you back, Through your flowing frontal curls, Makes us feel that Lord Brahma, Is a very slow witted one.
PS:- During day time you wander in forest with the herd and friends to follow you, we your followers, feel that every second that we spend here in your absence is like a never ending yuga and only on seeing you back with flue in your mouth and the sweet flowing music from lotus like lips of yours fills our heart with nectar – the nectar which gives life back to our bodies with our souls once you return back. In this stanza the Gopis teach us that a sadhaka or a true baktha should have a longing as if his very breath stops if Prathyakshanubhava is not to happen the very next second. This was well explained by Swami Ramakishna to a devotee when he asked Guru Maharaj about his longing for Goddess Kaali Ma and how he feels for it. Guru Maharaj took him to Holy Ganges and asked him to bathe and kept him inside water for few minutes and the disciple started to gasp for breath. Finally when he got out of water, he asked disciple how he felt – he had no words to explain except saying that he was immensely long to gasp for a while. Such should be the true intention and longing expected of a Sadaka or a true devotee. as has been explained in this verse.
Pathi suthaanwaya brathru bandhawan athi vilangyathenthyaachyuthaga,

And also our families and brothers, And have come near you,
You who know even the path of the dead, Have neglected us at night,
Who have come attracted by your song, Oh deceiver.
PS:- Here Gopis ascertain the Lord that they have come at the beckon the Lord leaving aside their family members for His sake Oh Achutha (one who is known for not leaving those who have faith in him) keep this in mind that we have come at this dark part of the night only on your call and how can we be neglected after having been called upon by your gestures and secret call. Such cruel joke should never be played upon on us.

PS:- Oh lord you very secret glances and gestures make us elated and your very smile enhances our uncontrolled passion for you and we long to have your broad chest – the residence of the Goddess Mahalakshmi – embraced by us. Lakshmi’s vasasthaanam – dwelling place of the Goddess- belongs to His devotees for which they long for.

If the lord can cure pain of the entire Universe why not we the true lover of thy lotus feet by giving us the much cherished wish of having union with you.

We keep your lotus like tender feet, Oh darling, Very tenderly on our very hard breasts, With lot of care so that they do not pain, But you travel with those tender feet, In forests over sharp thorns and stones, And thinking of the pain those feet would suffer, The brain of ours who have given our life to you, Gets rattled and worried.
PS: Oh Lord we intend to keep your lotus feet on our hard chests so that they are taken care of and get rid of their pain and also grant us the boon to get relief of the pain of your separation as they have all along been wandering in sun in thorns and stones and the very thought of their pain boils our brain and make us worried. The best place of rest for the ever wandering feet of the Lord is to keep them in tact – in lock on the chest of the Gopis - in lock nearer to their heart.

In a pretty tone and in several ways, And then they wept out loudly.
PS:- The greater the devotion or longing for union with the Lord the greater will be pain of their heart longing for it. It is a state of mind that a Sadaka or true devotee should aspire for it. Ashru, Kampa, Pramodham etc. are the signs which occur on the body of the sadak or a true devotee which is explained here as the Gopis

Then appeared before them Lord Krishna, Wearing the yellow silk,Wearing several garlands, And with a smile in his face,
Who is capable of making, The god of love yearn for his love.
PS:- The intention of the Gopis for union with the Lord, the longing of the Gopis were so fierce that a situation arose that they cannot bear the separation anymore and the Lord who was totally pleased with their true devotion appeared from nowhere wearing the ever shining golden slik, wearing several wonderful fragrant gaRlands, with a face full of smile as ever it would be as if to prove that he was the father of the Cupid himself.
At the beginning of the Gopika Geethatm itself Sri Sukdhevjee mentioned that “PRASHAMAAYA PRASHAANTHAYA THATRAIVA ANTARADEEYATA” i.e. in order to rectify his true devotees – THE GOPIS – lord disappeared there itself so that he could see how they behave in their despair and how intense their love for Him. Now having heard their hue & cry he could not remain in silence hence appeared like a full bloom lotus with vibrant golden silken cloth as his attire added with it some fragrant flower garlands and ever bright shining face full of glee and grandeur so as to please the Gopis longing for his Darshan. THEN STARTED RASA MAHOTSAV, a pleasurable sight to the entire Universe, all the Sidda, Charana, Gandarva, Muni ganas made an assemblage in the sky to witness the Gods’ Rasa with the GOPIS.

Uttasthu: yugapath sarvaa: tanva: praanamiva agatha:

Aapeeya aapeeya naatrupyan santha: thaccharanam yata:
Having seen their beloved the eyes of the Gopis lit with glee got up as if their bodies were revitalized with prana and they seems to engulf their beloved with their glimpses and embraced him wholeheartedly and fell at His feet. All along the Gopis were crying in longevity of their separation from their Lord and having seen they got up as if their life re-entered their bodies and vibrant with the presence of their beloved they started feeling of him and fell at his feet.
THEN STARTED RASOTSAVA which was never heard before and witnessed by all the Gods who were fortunate enough to have a glimpse of the same and showered the Lord with celestial flowers and danced from there with all types of instruments they could probably get a hand in. FLOWERS, FRAGRANCE, GRACE , GRANDIEUR COMPASSION, LOVE AND EVERLASTING PREMA took the form of RASA and in the UTSAVA that followed all the Gopis could see one Krishna by their side and did whatever they wanted to with Him as if he was her own prized possession. Lord Shiva & Parvathia, Brammaji with Saraswathi and host of other Gods with Rishis enjoyed the DANCE of the Yuga and there stood the Lord won over Cupid by his Dance with Radha and the Gopis who evinced intense love with Him. It is not that one night alone the Rasa was celebrated but all nights that followed.
It is NITHYA RASA UTSAVA and every true devotee should pray Goddess Radha Devi by saying “SAMYOJAYA MAAM RADHE THAVA RASA LEELAYAM” Oh Devi please allow us to participate in your Rasa Leela and let us be the recipient of thy Grace so as to serve the Lord in any possible manner that he might wish us to be worthy of it. The message of the Gopika Geetham is as under:-
BE SIMPLE AND HUMBLE IN YOUR DAILY LIFE //
ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GRACE THAT HE HAS SHOWERED ON US AT EVER MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE //
ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS NAME CONSTANTLY AND SPEND YOUR VALUABLE TIME ONLY WITH TRUE KRISHNA BAKTHAS (THOSE WHO CAN SHARE THE THOUGHTS OF RENOWNED SOULS OF KRISHNA CONSCINOUSNESS) AND AVOID THE INTRUDERS IN YOUR HOLY PATH (THEY ARE ACTUAL THIEVES – THIEVES WHO STEAL YOUR VALUABLE TIME) //
DWELL ON THOUGHS OF HIS SERVICE BY WORDS AND DEEDS //
KEEP HIS NAME ALWAYS IN YOUR LIPS AND FROM BOTTOM OF YOUR HEART// LET FLOWERS OF BAKTHI - THE FRAGRANCE OF DEVOTION – BLOOM AND REACH THE EVERSHING LOTUS FEET OF THE LORD //
NEVER GIVE UP YOUR SADHANA AT ANY POINT OF TIME IN YOUR LIFE EVEN AFTER HAVING ACHIEVE THE VERY GOAL OF IT I.E. A GLIMPSE OF GOD (LIKE PUNDARIKA WHO CONTINUED SERVICE TO HIS PARENTS EVEN THOUGH DWARAKADIPATHI AND HIS CONCERT WERE WAITING TO GIVE DARSHAN TO HIM AT HIS DOOR STEP) SIMILARLY EVEN AFTER ACHIVING SADHYA SADHANA SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN UP AT ANY COST; AS A SADAK AS HE CLIMBS IN HIS SPIRITUAL LADDER GETS NAME, FAME, MONEY AND WHAT NOT (LIKE PUNDARIKA DAYANADHI WHO WAS RICH BUT HIS MIND WAS STEADFAST WITH TRUE DEVOTION TO LORD KRISHNA’S LOTUS FEET THAT COMPELLED KRISHNA CHAITANYA MAHA PRABHU ONE DAY AND INVITED HIM TO HAVE HIS DARSHAN) ONE SHOULD NOT FORGET HIS GURU WHO IS THE VERY CAUSE OF ALL THESEACHIEVEMENTS AND ALSO NEVER FORGET THE WAYS OF WORSHIP TAUGHT BY HIM EVEN AFTER ACHINVING THE CHERISHED GOAL OF THE SADAHANA TILL OUR LAST BREATH( AS YOU ARE BORN TO DO SADANA)//
